2008 membership dues are, well, due
The membership fee has been reduced to just $10. Corporate memberships will remain at $50. The family membership fee is gone, however, couples will still have a lower cost than the previous $36.
Bike Sense site
One of our members has pointed out that the Bike Sense site should be in our list of links. Go there to view or download the Bike Sense Manual (in PDF form). It is a good review of how to ride on the roads.

The Greater Nanaimo Cycling Coalition has a new lease on life.

It is hoped that a lower membership price will be one important measure to allow us to attract many more members. Still, a concerted effort is needed to recruit members. One particular group that we will be targeting are Malaspina University College students. Any ideas? If so, please use the contact form to get our attention!

For some time the italicized words below have been presented to everyone who reads this site. I find it difficult to believe, when it is hard to find even politicians that think that Global Warming might not be happening, that our job is done! Perhaps we have not been sufficiently environmentally oriented or, perhaps we have spread ourselves too thin or concentrated too much on the recreational aspects of cycling, but it seems to me that a major reduction in fuel used for personal transportation is still necessary! Discussion? Use the contact form at: http://www.thegncc.org/Contact.php (check both Webmaster and Board checkboxes).

Our main purposes are to:

  • provide a unified voice for all cycling interests in the area;
  • advocate for cyclists to the local governments;
  • promote cycling-friendly roads and facilities;
  • encourage recreation, commuting and touring as reasons to ride.
